Join us for a Month of FREE family/children oriented activities
All activities will be led by professionals who have experience working with special needs children and their families. Autism Awareness month offers opportunities for children and families to learn and grow together, and encourages social interaction for children, as well as networking for parents.
All activities will be held at Schafer School of Gymnastics in Lawrenceville and are free.

Join us for this parent-supervised playtime, using our unique facility. An instructor will be available.

Get up and Dance with Miss Amy
Kids will enjoy a fun filled hour of music and movements with our local celebrity kids performer Miss Amy. She will have all of us moving and grooving to a variety of her fantastic high energy songs.

Sports & Movement
Children will learn basic concepts and drills for floor hockey, kick ball and t-ball/baseball, which will help improve coordination and focus. Each class is 45 minutes.

Yoga for Families Touched by Autism
Children on the spectrum, siblings, and parents gather together to playfully breathe, move, and relax their way to greater calm and joy, body, mind, and spirit. The stress of daily life melts away and the possibility is ripe for each individual to connect with and experience their Infinite Self! Every member of the family is nurtured, celebrated for their uniqueness, and valued for their contribution to The Infinite (Family) Unit (TM).

Teen Workout Movement
Teenagers will have the chance to learn body and air awareness with stretching, conditioning and trampolines, all of which will help with strength, flexibility and coordination.

Parents' Afternoon Out
Children will do gymnastics, jump on the trampoline, swing in the pit and play games while Parents get an afternoon off!

Hillary Freeman, Esq., of Hinkle, Fingles & Prior
Hillary D. Freeman is deeply committed to her work representing people with disabilities and their families. As the sister of a man with autism, she is able to combine personal experience with her legal training to help families advocate for services and support. She is a member of the American Association for Trial Attorneys, the International Dyslexia Association and Autism New Jersey. She serves on the Professional Advisory Board of the Learning Disabilities Association of New Jersey, and was appointed to the Board of Trustees of ASCEND, the Asperger & Autism Alliance for Greater Philadelphia. She is a member of the New Jersey Residential Committee of Advancing Futures for Adults with Autism (AFAA). Join us for a Special Education Overview with Hillary Freeman.

Connecting Our Senses to Movement
Gilda Rivera from OTAP
Gilda D. Rivera, MS OTR/L is one of the owners of Occupational Therapy Associates of Princeton (OTAP) and has worked as a school-based occupational therapist in NYC schools and provides early intervention services. She specializes in working with children diagnosed with Autism. Gilda developed and owns Theratoys of America, Inc., a toy company, which produces and sells sensory-based toys and products.

Family Day of Play & Social Skills Speaker
Families are invited to come and experience movement and play at Schafer Gymnastics, led by instructors. While the children play, Sasha Martone, LCSW, will be speaking to parents about "Taking Social Skills To The Next Level."
